In the spotlight today is Arup

Chris Baines is Rail Safety Co-ordinator for Arup, taking on the role of Rail Safety Week Champion for Arup throughout the UK.  Chris has been planning numerous events across the week to drive the rail safety message home within the company.

Arup’s contribution to supporting Rail Safety Week is as follows;

Events going on in Arup Campus (Solihull Office) during Rail Safety Week:

Monday 26th 14:00 to 16:00 – HS2 Project Induction and Risk Assessment Briefing
Wednesday 28th –  14:00 to 16:00 Rail Team Safety Induction
Friday 30th 10:00 to 12:00 – HS2 Project Induction and Risk Assessment Briefing

The HS2 inductions are given to all staff working on the project and details the project specific requirements which are aligned to Arup’s Rail Business Management System requirements. The Risk Assessment Briefing is an hour long session where the risks associated with survey work is briefed to the staff attending the Induction. This ensures that everyone working on the project get briefed on the risk associated with the task being carried out.

Our Rail Team Safety Inductions are given to all staff working for the core rail teams in Arup and anyone working on a rail project and includes details of the rail specific policies and procedures which apply to any project linked to the Rail Business regardless of whether it’s a NR project or a Heritage  Railway. Details of the Sentinel scheme and the CIRAS website are given as well as our stop work policy and Close Call Reporting process.

For more information on any of the above or if you would like to speak with Chris from Arup, please contact Alan Tarrant for details
